The studio plant placed here once
as a design object:
the Strelitzia. Perfectly symmetrical.
Almost graphic.

But slowly it started choosing
its own direction.

Now it stands there like a distinguished man
who turned punk later in life.
As if it’s saying: enough with your design.

Maybe it took inspiration from the photograph
leaning against the wall.
Iggy Pop.

I  think of that video online.
Iggy Pop, tearing a studio plant apart —
still out there somewhere.

Strange.
I had never connected the two.

Until now.
